Gardaí in the midlands are encouraging people to 'Go Purple' today and support their local domestic violence services.
Go Purple Day is aimed at raising awareness and funds for support services.

Portlaoise Sergeant Justine Reilly is calling on people to wear purple and for businesses and public buildings to light up in support.
She says this type of abuse can happen to anyone:
