213,000 votes were spoiled from the presidential election.

People spoiled their vote because they weren't happy with the choice of candidates in the presidential election.

That's the view of Spoil the Vote campaigner, Laois' Elaine Mullally. 

Over 213,000 spoiled votes were recorded last month, which was almost 13% of the overall vote, with the figure in Laois set at 14%.

There were just three members for the public to choose as the country's next president.

She says there should have been more choices on the ballot paper:
