It will bring the facility to just under 150 beds.
A major extension to a proposed Offaly private hospital has been given the green light.
John Flanagan Developments has been granted planning permission for an additional 50 beds at the planned facility in Tullamore.
The original 99-bed private hospital on the Wellwood Healthcare Campus got the green light last year, with development due to start last summer.
However, the developer said a series of reports showed the facility needed to cater for more demand, and sought permission to increase the size to just under 150 beds.
Offaly County Council granted planning permission subject to six conditions.
