Portlaoise Garda Superintendent Eamon Curley has been promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent and is transferring to the Kilkenny division.
In a post on the Laois-Offaly Garda Facebook page, he's being described as a 'beacon of professionalism' who kept 'the public at the heart of every decision he made.'
It also adds that while he'll be missed, he'll continue to bring 'unwavering dedication' to his new role.
