A historic jazz festival is returning to Laois after 30 years.
The Portlaoise Jazz Festival is taking place from Friday January 30th to Sunday February 1st, marking its first outing in three decades.
More than 40 acts will perform across 20 venues, with concerts, workshops and free events taking place throughout the town.
The festival opens with a headline performance by jazz guitarist Lee Meehan at the Dunamaise Arts Centre, which also hosts a free masterclass by the Conor Guilfoyle Octet.
Secretary of the Jazz Festival Bob Batty says the revived festival aims to reconnect the community with live music and bring renewed energy to Portlaoise’s streets, pubs and public spaces:
