Retired Cardiologist Warns Older Adults About Cholesterol Crisis

Nearly half of older adults in Ireland have elevated levels that remain undiagnosed.

A retired Midlands cardiologist says having the right treatment is key to beating problems with cholesterol.

New research from the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing study shows that 45% of older adults in Ireland have undiagnosed high levels of it in their blood.

It also found that half of them are on insufficient treatment for the condition.

The study states if this is not addressed properly, it would place acute stress on the national health system.
