Dr Michael Cushen believe they want the facility built on the Wellwood Healthcare campus.
Offaly Hospice is trying to undermine plans to build the Midlands Hospice on its proposed site.
That's according to retired Consultant in Palliative Care for the Midlands, Michael Cushen.
Dr Cushen, who has played an active role in developing plans for the project, is certain those working for Offaly Hospice are determined to see the long-campaigned for facility to be built on the Wellwood Healthcare campus.
The Arden Lane site was selected ahead of the Wellwood campus following a scoring-evaluation.
Offaly Hospice insist the only agenda they have is to is to "improve the welfare and quality of life of patients. . .enduring the trauma of incurable life-limiting illness."
Dr Cushen believes there's more to their motives:
Offaly Hospice's statement in full:
From its foundation 35 years ago, Offaly Hospice has consistently provided critical financial support for Palliative Care services in the Midlands, over 1.4 million euro in the past decade.
Apart from improving services in the Community and patient's homes, Offaly Hospice has also campaigned tirelessly for the development of the Midlands Regional Hospice, a much-needed health facility in the region.
Our vision for the Midlands Regional Hospice is one of service integration.
The only agenda Offaly Hospice has in all these matters is to improve the welfare and quality of life of patients and families enduring the trauma of incurable life-limiting illness.
