Over 11 kilos of herbal cannabis have been seized following multiple operations.
Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €324,670 in various operations in the Midlands, Dublin, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 11.226kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €225,380,
- 701.4g of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €4,200,
- 2.69kg of edibles, with an estimated value of over €2,670,
- Cannabinoid vapes and liquid, with an estimated value of €1,735,
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €3,730,
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €4,255, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €3,235,
- Over 8,636 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €2,000, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,400, and
- 218 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €80,700.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Ciara. The parcels originated from the USA, UK, Spain, India, and Canada, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Ninety-five weapons were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
