Road Deaths Up 11% As Weekend Fatalities Push Toll Higher

Offaly remains the only county without a road death this year.

Road deaths have increased by 11% this year compared to the same period last year. 

It follows the deaths of five more people on our roads over the weekend. 

Offaly now remains the only county which has managed to avoid a traffic fatality so far in 2026.

Tullamore driving instructor Joe Wynne attributes this to a strong Garda presence on the roads:
