Flood defences are years away for two Laois towns badly affected by Storm Claudia last week.
A Laois TD wants flood relief schemes fast tracked after towns in the county were hit with heavy rain from Storm Claudia.
This comes as flooding has heavily affected homes and businesses in areas like Mountmellick and Portarlington over the past week.
According to OPW projections, the Mountmellick Scheme may require an additional 6 to 7 years to complete construction, while the Portarlington project could take even longer.
