The HSE's warning of major disruption over the next two days.
The HSE's warning people to expect major disruption in hospitals over the next two days, due to a strike.
Up to 30,000 procedures won't go ahead today and tomorrow, and there'll be long delays in emergency departments.
2,100 medical scientists won't carry out routine lab services between 8am and 8pm on both days in a dispute over pay and career development.
Tony Canavan, the chief executive of the Saolta hospital group, which includes Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, says it'll have a very significant impact throughout the country:
Due to industrial action by the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association, there will be disruptions to hospital services on Tuesday 24 May and Wednesday 25 May from 8am to 8pm. The hospital will contact you if your appointment is cancelled. Updates here: https://t.co/pKUBYgpKYk pic.twitter.com/yp1pIbmfm4
