Swimming Pools In The Midlands Granted Over €180,000 In Funding

It's part of a €3.2 million funding package for swimming pool operators across the country.

Over €180,000 has been allocated to swimming pools in the midlands.

It comes as part of a €73.6 million Covid fund granted to the sports sector announced by the Government last December.

Laois received over €67,000, while Offaly have been granted nearly €55,000 and over €58,000 has been allocated to Westmeath.

€3.2 million has been grated to swimming pool operators across the country.

Fine Gael TD for Laois and Offaly, Charlie Flanagan, stated, "Swimming Pool operators demonstrated their resilience throughout the pandemic. It is intended the funding announced today will assist swimming pool operators to continue getting communities across the county active and providing a real-life skill. Something which is essential for our physical and mental wellbeing.

Swimming pools provide a vital resource for schools, clubs, and communities across the county, and it is important that this infrastructure is maintained going forward. This investment will help swimming pool operators continue to provide safe and essential service which is vital to sustain swimming and maintain physical activity levels for all ages."
