Teachers Unions Demand End To Strikes

The TUI, INTO and ASTI says schools are struggling to operate as normal during secretary and caretaker strikes.  

Teachers are calling for immediate talks to end the strike by school secretaries and caretakers. 

In a joint statement the three main teachers' unions say schools are struggling to function since secretaries and caretakers walked out in their row over pensions and other conditions.

Teachers with the TUI, ASTI and INTO, say they fully support Forsa members and aren't taking on any additional duties during the strike action.

But Tullamore's Michael Gillespie, General Secretary, of the TUI, says the situation is unsustainable:
