Four others were involved in the incident in Delvin last night.
The thirteen year old boy who died in a car crash in Westmeath last night has been named locally.
Joseph Anderson from Delvin was killed, another teenager was taken to hospital and three others received non-life threatening injuries in the incident.
Investigations by the Gardai and GSOC remain ongoing.
