The Junior Health Minister has been renewing the government's commitment to the project.
A timeline and cost breakdown for the development of a hospice in the midlands will be complete this month.
That's according to Junior Health Minister Mary Butler, who says architectural plans and a feasibility study of the site at Tullamore Regional Hospital are now complete.
She says the HSE is liaising with five local hospice groups, the Irish Hospice Foundation and Hooves4Hospice to ensure the success of the 15-bed palliative care unit.
