The man in his 60s was attacked last night.

Two boys have been arrested following an alleged stabbing in Offaly.

A man in his 60s received an apparent stab wound during an assault in the Mucklagh area at about 9.10 last night.

He's currently receiving treatment at Tullamore Regional Hospital for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

The two boys, under the age of 18, are being held at Tullamore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
