Westmeath Company Part Of New Facemask Being Trialed Worldwide

The original design is based on scuba diving equipment.

A Westmeath company is creating a re-usable face covering for frontline workers using a scuba diving mask as a template. 

Mullingar's Irish Manufacturing Research is behind the idea, which they hope will reduce the spread of the virus in healthcare settings.

Figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre indicate that over 1 in 5 infections in Ireland up to October 12th were among healthcare workers.
