The council is at the loss of half a million euro following a payment fraud.
Westmeath County Council says it's not in a position to give out any further details surrounding the incident of fraud payment that cost the local authority over €515,000.
However, interim CEO Barry Kehoe confirmed to councillors at today's monthly meeting that he will keep them updated and answer questions when he is a position to do so.
The incident happened in January but wasn't discovered until Friday 16th of February.
Cathaoirleach Liam McDaniel agreed that it was right to refrain from any discussion that may and unintentionally jeopardise the garda investigation.
