Midlands designers have made it to the world final.

An outfit made out of crisp packets - that's the sustainable style Westmeath students brought to the red carpet of Cannes.

Lara Keena and Hannah Martin from Moate Community School created "Silver Linings", a crop top, trousers and shawl all made out of discarded crisp packets.

It's one of eight designs that hit the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival under the Junk Kouture initiative.

The Junk Kouture competition encourages secondary schools to create outfits under the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

The Midlands has a strong presence in this year's competition, with Clodagh Wilson from Wilson's Hospital School being the reigning Junk Kouture World Designer of the Year.

Designs from St Joseph's Secondary School in Rochfortbridge and Heywood Community School in Laois are also competing for Ireland in the 2025 World Final.
