Westmeath Teen Arrested After Claiming Multiple Covid Payments

A sum of cash and counterfeit money were also seized.

A man has been arrested in Westmeath for fraudulently claiming Covid 19 unemployment payments.

He'd allegedly been receiving six separate payments of 350 euro a week into a bank account using fake names.

A house in Mullingar was searched today following intelligence from the Department of Social Protection.

The man in his late teens was arrested and is being questioned at Mullingar Garda Station.

A sum of cash and counterfeit money were also seized during the search.
