Gardaí are describing the incident as "serious".

Investigations are underway following an assault in a midlands night club over the weekend.

A woman was attacked on the premises in Mullingar on Friday night.

Gardaí are describing the offence - a Section 3, assault causing harm - as on "the more serious end of the scale".

Investigators have a definite line of enquiry thanks to CCTV footage.
