How to facilitate Ukrainian refugees in the long-term is a worry for volunteers in Laois.

An inter-agency forum has been successfully co-ordinating their arrival to the county to date, according to Laois Integration Network.

Chair Karen McHugh says there are now Ukrainians in every major town in Laois, living in hotels, self-catering accommodation or with host families.

She admits, however, a long-term plan is required.

Ms. McHugh says they are committed to offering support for however long its needed though:

It comes as the Tánaiste insists no limits will be placed on the number of Ukrainian refugees arriving in Ireland.

It comes as around 40 people spent the night in the old terminal building at Dublin Airport, the second night refugees had to stay there. 

Leo Varadkar has described the current number of refugees arriving in Ireland as 'unprecedented':

The Tánaiste says other army barracks will be used to accommodate Ukrainians in addition to Gormanston in Co. Meath.

He says another reception centre, similar to that in CityWest in Dublin, has been identified:
