Laois County Council says "limited funding" for a very competitive process is the reason a soccer club in the county missed out on State support.
Stradbally Town AFC have been unsuccessfully applying for a grant from the Community Recognition Fund.
It's after they were moved on from their original base in the town in 2023 to make way for the accommodation of Ukranian Refugees.
The club says they have been recently informed they are set to miss out on the third round of funding from the scheme.
Laois County Council says eight groups from Portlaoise, Rathdowney, Ballylinan, Mountmellick, Emo and Stradbally have won funding in the previous two rounds from an allocation of €960,000.
They say due to the limited funding available disappointment for some groups is unfortunately inevitable.
