It come's after a string of burglaries in the midlands this week.
If criminals think your property is occupied, they're less likely to target it.
That's the advice from Laois-Offaly Crime Prevention Officer Graham Kavanagh, who says timed light switches, monitored alarms and securing doors and windows before leaving home are the best deterrants to burglars.
It comes as four properties in Laois and three in Offaly have been broken into this week alone.
