7% Increase In Average Cost Of Midlands Home

The figures have been revealed by the MyHome.ie Property Price Report.

The average price of a home in the midlands has risen by 7%

Figures from MyHome.ie show the average cost of a home in the midlands now rests at €196,000, an increase of €12,000 on the same period last year.

A three-bed, semi-detached home in Westmeath will cost you the most in the region, at €210,000. 

In Laois, the average cost of the same house will set you back €190,000, while in Offaly it's slightly cheaper, at €189,000.

Despite this, Chief Economist at Davy Stockbrokers, Conall MacCoille says rural areas offer the best value:

The number of homes available in the midlands is on the rise.

Figures from MyHome.ie show there are over 800 properties for sale in the region, with each county seeing an increase on last quarters figures.

Offaly has seen the highest jump of 44 percent, with 262 properties for sale.

There are 312 homes in available in Westmeath, which is a 29 percent increase on last quarters numbers, and 230 properties in Laois, a 24 percent increase.

Nationally, there are 16,000 homes available, an increase of nearly 4,000 on June's figures.
