75% Of Schools Receive No Applicants As Teacher Shortage Rises

Six in ten schools have unfilled vacancies because of challenges with recruiting and retaining staff.

The lack of available teachers has reached crisis point with new figures revealing 75% of schools that advertised positions in the previous six months had no applicants. 

New findings of a survey carried out by the TUI revealed 60% of schools have unfilled vacancies due to recruitment and retention difficulties.

Almost one-in-five schools have been forced to drop subjects.
