An internal review was carried out at Custume Barracks.
The Air Corps' emergency helicopter ambulance service is to continue operating out of Athlone after an internal review.
It follows reports of disagreement between medical and military officials over the suitability of the Custume Barracks hangar.
However a recent €1.5 million investment in the facility has seen the delivery of the required upgrades for Air Corps technicians to conduct comprehensive daily aircraft inspections.
While further works have provided operational and maintenance improvements around the Athlone base.
The Department of Defence says they remain committed to their EAS service from the upgraded facilities at Custume Barracks, and resumed typical day operations at the hanger on the 18th of March.
While a spokesperson from the health department says the service continues to provide equal access to essential emergency care for some of the most critically ill patients in Ireland, especially those in rural or isolated areas.
