Appeal Lodged Against Midlands Hospice

The appellant is objecting on the grounds on which the development is being allowed.

An appeal against plans for the Midlands Hospice has been lodged.

The appellant, Tom Martin is a trustee of Tullamore Pitch and Putt Club on Arden Lane.

His objection is on the grounds of the manner in which the development was allowed, and the failure to resolve fundamental planning and procedural issues before planning permission was granted.

It follows a long running debate over the location of the Hospice in Tullamore.

After the HSE decided to go forward with plans to build on Arden Lane, Councillors in the local authority voted to allow a material contravention of the county development plan last month.

Meanwhile, Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club has issued a clarification and a reiteration of its position:

"The club wishes to reiterate our previous public statement confirming our full and unequivocal support for the Midlands Hospice development at Arden Lane, Tullamore.

As previously stated, we welcomed the unanimous decision of the 19 County Councillors to pave the way for planning permission and we remain proud to support the delivery of this vitally important regional facility.

We continue to look forward to being good, supportive neighbours to the hospice for many years to come.

For the avoidance of any doubt, the recent appeal lodged by Mr Tom Martin reflects his personal views only.

While Mr Martin is a trustee of the club, his position does not represent the views of Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club or its other Trustees, who do not share or endorse the appeal.

Our position remains unchanged: we sincerely hope that everyone can unite behind this essential project so it can proceed without further delay and deliver much-needed hospice care to families across the Midlands."
