Approval has been granted to start work on an extension to one of the midlands largest schools.
The new extension and refurbishment works at Portlaoise College will consist of a construction studies room, an art room and a special education needs classroom.
Following the completion of all stages of tendering, the government has now given approval to commence construction straight away.
Welcoming the news, Junior Finance Minister and Laois-Offaly Fianna Fáil TD, Seán Fleming says;
"I want to acknowledge all the work put in by the people in Portlaoise College and the Laois Offaly Education Training Board for requesting approval for this important extension...I look forward to the college making direct contact with the contractor to arrange to commence work as urgently as possible.!
