It comes after the 22 year old received a three-year suspended sentence for the assault of Natasha O'Brien.
Cathal Crotty is no longer a member of the Defence Forces as of today.
He was convicted last month of a vicious assault on Natasha O'Brien in Limerick City on May 29th of 2022.
Mr. Crotty received a fully suspended sentence, which the DPP is in the process of appealing.
