Drugs Intercepted On Their Way To The Midlands

Revenue officers discovered the items inside parcels arriving into Ireland.

A quantity of drugs has been intercepted on its way to the midlands.

€149,000 euro worth of illegal drugs were discovered by Revenue officers examining parcels in Dublin yesterday.

The seizures included almost 23kgs of cannabis infused edibles, over 5kgs of herbal cannabis and 1,000 Zopiclone tablets, as well as small quantities of benzylpiperazine and benzodiazepine tablets, cannabis oil and ‘magic mushrooms’. 

The parcels orginated from multiple locations in North America, Europe and Asia, and were destined for addresses in nine counties, including Westmeath and Longford.

They had been declared as items such as ‘document’, ‘toys’, ‘blankets’, ‘textiles’, ‘make up’, ‘dolls’ and ‘clothing’.

The discovery was made as part of routine operations, with the assistance of detector dog Bailey.

Investigations are ongoing.
