Portlaoise has taken in significant money for three projects.
Over €33m for urban regeneration has been invested in the midlands since 2018.
The latest report on the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, shows Laois leads the way in the funding stakes, with €18m granted for Portlaoise's low carbon town initiative, a cultural quarter for the town, and the refurbishment of Scoil Mhuire.
Westmeath received €11m for six projects.
The money has been put towards revitalising and developing sites across Mullingar and Athlone.
While Offaly County Council has been granted over €4.5m for the Tullamore Urban Area and Tullamore Urban Regeneration and Development 2020 projects.
