The number of environmental inspections taking place on Midlands farms is on the rise.
All three county councils in the region met and exceeded their inspection targets set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Last year, Laois surpassed its target of 136 by two, Westmeath's target was cleared by one, while Offaly met its target of 140 inspections.
Nationally, local authorities inspected 4,315 farms - 96% of the annual target of 4,500 set by the EPA and a 66% increase on 2024.
