National Lottery Reveals Midlands County With Biggest Jackpot Wins

The game launched in 1988.

Westmeath is home to two of the biggest wins in the National Lottery history. 

28 players have won over  €10 million, since the game launched in 1988.

In May 2013, Kevin Geoghegan and Carol Loran scooped €10,651,567. The couple bought their ticket in Tesco in Mullingar.

Another lucky ticket holder from the Lake County shared the shared the €12.3 million jackpot on offer in May of 2017. 

The details have been released ahead of tomorrow's lotto jackpot, which is estimated to be worth €11 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Could Wednesday night’s Lotto draw make it a night to remember for a Lotto player dreaming of winning big? A potential winner could find themselves added to the list of all time highest jackpot winners ever seen in the country. Since 1988, we have seen 28 Lotto jackpots in excess of €10 million won – could tomorrow night’s draw bring this total up to a whopping 29? As the Lotto jackpot heads towards €11 million, excitement is building amongst players all over the country. We are reminding players that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie.”
