50 stores across Ireland will receive funding with eight new Tesco Express stores to open.
Four Tesco stores in the midlands will be refurbished as part of a new €80m investment.
50 stores across the country will receive funding from the major supermarket chain, which employs 13,000 people in Ireland.
The refurbishment programme means a full transformation of the shops, new produce and bakery counters, as well as a newly fitted out F&F clothing area.
Renovations at Tesco in Edenderry are already underway, with work in Tullamore Square due to begin early next year.
Supermarkets in Kinnegad and Castlepollard will also benefit from the refurbishment scheme.
The investment will also result in the opening of eight new Tesco Express stores, the locations of which are yet to be revealed.
In a statement to Midlands 103, Tesco Ireland says:
"Our refurbishment programme means full transformation of the stores, new produce and bakery counters, as well as a newly fitted out F&F area.
Additionally we will be installing fridge doors and other environmental features to help improve the carbon footprint of our stores.
Each project can take up to a several months, and we thank our colleagues and customers for their patience during the works.
We look forward to the customer feedback when the renovation is complete.
Edenderry is undergoing renovations at present and is expected to be completed by end of October. Work on Tullamore Square will get underway early next year."
Tesco Ireland Chief Operating Officer, Geoff Byrne, says:
"We have an ambitious development strategy for the business and are very excited to be expanding our Tesco Express model.
We remain as committed as ever to delivering a rewarding shopping experience for our customers, which offers real value.
Our Tesco Express model is proving very successful in urban settings and reflects evolving consumer demand for greater convenient shopping opportunities in high footfall areas, while our store upgrades will breathe new life into our existing store network."
