The incident happened in the Heathfield area of Kinnegad at around 10am this morning.
While on routine patrol Gardaí from the Westmeath Roads Policing Unit responded to an alert in relation to a car on their Automatic Number-Plate Recognition system.

They have since been discharged from hospital.
The car was found a short time later in Boreen Bradach, Kinnegad, a popular walking route.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area, today, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
