Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash in Westmeath to come forward.
A man was airlifted to hospital following a collision between a car and a truck on the N4 at Ballinalack yesterday afternoon.
The man in his 40s was brought to Beaumont hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A woman in her 50s was also brought to hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The road was closed last night for a technical exam.
Anyone travelling on the N4 between Edgeworthstown and Mullingar between 1:15pm and 1:45pm yesterday, are asked to make any footage of the area available to Gardaí.
