Officers are also investigating the theft of a shed in the region.
Gardaí in the midlands are investigating after a car was stolen and subsequently set on fire.
The incident occurred at around 9pm on Saturday night.
Four young people were seen breaking into the Silver Toyota Vitz at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise on Saturday.
They were then observed driving "erratically" towards Emo, where the car was later found crashed and on-fire, by members of Laois Fire Services.
Gardaí suspect the vehicle was set on fire by those who stole it.
They're appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward, and anyone with information is being asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
Separately, officers are investigating the theft of a shed from the site of the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska.
It was taken at some stage between Friday and yesterday afternoon, when it was reported to Gardaí.
Anyone with information in relation to that incident is also being asked to get in touch with Gardaí in Portlaoise.
