A man in his 40s has been arrested.
Over a quarter of a million euro worth of drugs have been seized in Laois.
One man has been arrested following the discovery in Ballyfin.
Gardaí from the Laois Drugs Unit and Portlaoise Garda Station searched two premises in the vicinity of Ballyfin on Wednesday.
It's part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and distribution of controlled drugs.
In the course of the searches, 156 cannabis plants, worth €124,800, were seized, along with quantities of cannabis valued at €120,000 and suspected amphetamine worth €10,000.
The drugs are being sent for forensic analysis.
A 42-year-old man was also arrested and taken to Tullamore Garda Station, where he was detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
He has since been charged with drugs offences and is due to appear before a sitting of Nenagh District Court at 10.30 this morning.
