Housing Strategy Needs To Tackle Rural Depopulation - Micheál Carrigy

The Longford Westmeath TD is the current chair of the Oireachtas committee on housing.

The Chair of the Oireachtas Housing Committee is calling for an effective National Housing Strategy to tackle rural depopulation.

According to current projections from the Central Statistics Office, Ireland’s population is expected to rise from just under 5.5 million today to as many as 6.3 million by 2040.

The population across many rural areas is set to decline, with growth expected in cities and larger towns.
