The HSE during the weekend "disassociates itself from and rejects the comments".
The Clinical Director of the HSE Dublin Midlands Hospital group has resigned from his role.
Martin Feeley notified the Chief Executive Officer of the HSE Dublin Midlands Hospital group of his decision to resign at the Executive Management Team meeting today.
It follows remarks he made to Irish Times over the weekend, where he stated we should be pursuing a "herd immunity" strategy.
He says people should have been exposed to the virus all through the summer to try and give them immunity - claiming that would lessen the impact on our health system this winter.
The HSE said it "disassociates itself from and rejects the comments".
COVID19: Dr. Feeley compared the severity of the virus to the annual flu.
