Exploiting someone who is fleeing a war with the hopes of getting sex in return is a "heinous act," and is irreprehensible.
That's according to Fianna Fáil Longford Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty, speaking after an RTÉ Investigates programme which explored "Sex for Rent."
The programme revealed a midlands couple were seeking to accommodate a Ukrainian woman with a spare room, in exchange for sex.
Deputy Flaherty, who's also a member of the Oireachtas Housing Committee, says it's important these "hidden issues" are highlighted:
Meanwhile, Sinn Féin says Landlords offering sex for rent are sexual predators.
Incidents of people being offered free or discounted rent in exchange for sex have appeared on social media.
