'No Joke' is calling on county councils in the Midlands to pass a motion for a fully funded position.
The Irish Wheelchair Association is urging local authorities to improve their disability access.
The 'No Joke' Campaign is launching on April Fools's Day and will continue for the month, as 81% of county councils do not have a full time Access Officer .
Westmeath is one of three local authorities in the country that has a part-time role in place, while Laois and Offaly do not.
The association is asking councillors to draft and pass motions in their next monthly meetings, requesting funding for the position.
