The funds have been raised in just 49 days.
The family of a Laois boy with a genetic disorder say they'll never be able to thank the public enough for helping them raise €2 million for their son.
One year old Dan Donoher from Ballybrittas has spinal muscular atrophy and scoliosis and needs life-saving treatment in the US.
The ‘Do it For Dan’ Go Fund Me page was set up and raised the cash in 49 days.
His mum Aisling says they’re hugely grateful.
Statement from the Do if for Campaign:
The do it for dan campaign can confirm today that it has passed its goal of raising €2.1 million dollars for life saving treatment for one-year old
Dan Donoher, son of Laois footballers Niall and Aisling Donoher.
The fundraising began a little over 50 days ago and has seen a swell of support from across Ireland and beyond.
Chairman of the do it for Dan campaign Brendan Quigley said: We really can’t believe it, we genuinely can’t. The committee and I always believed that when we sat down to raise the funds we would ‘do it for Dan’ but I never thought it would be anything as amazing as this! Niall and Aisling are overwhelmed by all of the support they have received, and we can’t thank everyone enough for what they have done for Niall, Aisling and most importantly, Dan.
We have kindly asked anyone who was about to starting fundraising not to commence as we are totalling all of the fundraisers completed and live at this moment and we believe we have reached our goal. Thank you so much to everyone, we’ve done it for Dan!’
We will never be able to thank you all enough. Our hearts are filled with so much happiness.

It takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to save one.
