It's the second big local winner in three days!
A lucky lotto player in Laois has scooped up a winning ticket worth €500,000.
Last night's EuroMillions Quick Pick ticket was purchased at a Gala store on Grattan Street in Portlaoise.
This marks the second lottery winner in the county in the last week, after another player scooped up €1 million on Sunday night's Daily Million.
The winning numbers were 13, 15, 33, 34, 40.
Shop owner Bosco Ramsbottom said he was thrilled to get the call about the Tuesday night win:
“We’re a small, local friendly shop operating 21 years, employing 23 people. We’re absolutely delighted to hear about the win. There’s a great buzz in store with lots of our customers coming in and out of the shop checking their tickets. We wish the winner the very best of luck !”

It comes as the owner of last Sunday's winning €1 million ticket has come forward.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at Tesco in Portlaoise, making the lucky player the 22nd National Lottery millionaire of 2022.
The winner, who wishes to keep their win private, spoke of what they did when they realised they won the million-euro prize:
“I couldn’t believe it. I kept checking my ticket over and over again. The first thing I did was call my mother and said ‘Mam, you better take a seat for what I’m about to tell you’. At first, she was a little worried and thought it might be bad news, but she was roaring and cheering when I told her the good news! I’m looking forward to taking care of my mam and extended family. I can’t wait to travel and especially tick America off my bucket list as I’ve never been. And, of course, I would love to buy my own home for the first time ever!” they said.
