Laois Roads Policing Unit Arrested Intoxicated Driver

A roadside drug test returned positive for illegal substances.

Laois Roads Policing Unit arrested an intoxicated driver over the weekend.

They stopped a vehicle after it pulled into a Mountmellick service station, where the driver attempted to exit via the passenger door to avoid CCTV detection.

A roadside drug test returned positive for cocaine, cannabis, and benzodiazepines.

Further checks uncovered an expired learner permit, no insurance, no NCT, and motor tax expired for over 3,000 days.

Court proceedings have now commenced.
