Laois TD Calls Out Government Over Long Awaited School Upgrades

Facilities aren't expected to open until around 2028. 

A Laois TD is calling on the government to step up efforts to put in new buildings for a secondary school. 

Coláiste Íosagáin in Portarlington is currently waiting on a new school plan to go to tender, which has been in the process over the past 10 years. 

Offaly County Council approved plans in 2024 for a major redevelopment of the Portarlington school, increasing its capacity to 1,300 students. 

However, facilities aren't expected to open until around 2028.
