Less Than 100,000 Cancer Screenings In First Half Of 2020

Not all of that is down to covid-19 according to the IMO.

There's enough goodwill but not enough people to fix the issues within cancer screening services. 

That's the view of President of the Irish Medical Organisation and Longford GP Dr.Padraig McGarry. 

Less than 100,000 people were screened for cancer in Ireland in the first six months of the year. 

While there was an expected slowdown during the lockdown, Dr.McGarry says deep rooted problems remain:
