The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday 15th April.
There has been 26 nominations for the Offaly Person Of The Year and Unsung Hero awards.
The sub-committee of the Offaly Association organises the annual Offaly Person of the year awards which are held in the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.
Both awards are sponsored by the Celt Bar, Talbot Street, Dublin.
Chairperson of the sub-committee Ms Jennifer Guinan said the selection committee is overawed with the calibre of the nominees and the committee will be meeting on a regular basis to examine all the nominations before announcing the winner of the 2022 Person of the Year and 2022 Unsung Hero awards.
"The awards ceremony will be held in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore on Saturday, 15 April and the committee will announce the winners of the two awards in early March,"
THE NOMINEES
13 of the nominees have been announced today with the final 13 to be announced next week.
Judy Bryant, Killoughey - For her inspirational work with young people and her commitment to badminton in Killoughey and Offaly over four decades.
Michael Duignan, Banagher and Durrow - For his work with Offaly GAA his leadership and his vision into the future.
Paul Galvin, Tullamore- For his tireless humanitarian work for the under-privileged and his dedication to Mary's Meals which provides free school lunches to millions of children in Africa.
Anne Starling, Tullamore - For her dedicated and passionate support of business through her work with Tullamore Chamber of Commerce allied to her work with Special Olympics, Dóchas,Accessible Counselling Tullamore and a myriad of other groups
John O'Connor, Durrow - He has given a lifetime of commitment to a large number of organisations in his native Durrow and Tullamore including Civil Defence, St Patrick's Day Parade committee, Durrow Hall and Graveyard committees, Tullamore Show, Suicide Awareness and many more.
Humphrey O'Connor, Tullamore - For his dedication and commitment to the health services and his work for Offaly Hospice and Dóchas.
Anthony Kearns, Tullamore/ Ballinamere - For providing employment in Tullamore, the annual organising of a charity event “The Show”, his commitment to Tullamore Lions Club, Ballinamere GAA and Tullamore Chamber of Commerce.
Robert McDermott, Edenderry - For his charitable work with Down Syndome, his support of Edenderry RFC and his work with Offaly Sports Partnership. He is also a , former President of Leinster Rugby
Moneygall Camogie Club - For their sheer determination at club level.
Yvonne Farrell, Tullamore - Her company Grafton Architects are to the architectural world as Messi is to the soccer world. They have designed many prestigious buildings and won numerous awards. They are currently overseeing the plan for the redevelopment of Tullamore Harbour.
Shinrone GAA - For making history in 2023 by winning the senior hurling county championship for the first time in their history.
Alan McNamee, Rhode - In recognition of winning his thirteenth senior football championship medal in 2022 and for his dedication to his native Rhode GAA Club and Offaly GAA over many years.
Ned and Mary Smyth, Daingean - For their commitment and dedication and massive fundraising efforts for Offaly Hospice and Daingean Lourdes Fund for over 30 years.
