The exhibition will be visiting the midlands this week.
A midlands man has placed 3rd in the AIB Press Photographer of the Year Award 2023.
Offaly's James Crombie of Inpho Photography, picked up the award in the Sports Action category for his image entitled, ‘Clash of the Ash’.
The awards, ran by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland, will be bringing the exhibition of awards to the Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival, which runs from Friday 4th August to Saturday 12th August.
The images will be on display in Oxmantown Model School.
The awards were presented at a ceremony in Dublin earlier this year by An Tánaiste Micheál Martin TD across 10 categories – News, Daily Life & People, Sports Action, Sports Feature, Portrait, Nature & the Environment, Politics, Arts & Entertainment, Reportage and Multimedia in addition to the newly launched AIB Sustainability Award.
Mark Condren of the Irish Independent/Sunday Independent was awarded the AIB Press Photographer of the Year 2023 title, his sixth time winning this title.
David Branigan, President of the Press Photographers Association of Ireland, commented:
“We are delighted that the AIB Press Photographer of the Year Award exhibition will be visiting Birr as part of this year’s Vintage Week & Arts Festival. We hope that visitors throughout the week-long event will enjoy browsing through the award-winning and highly commended imagery which showcases the very best of Irish press photography.”
